Ernie Els

I can’t believe it. Ernie Els managed to gift Tiger Woods another tournament. No other player has finished second as many times to Tiger, 7. It makes we want to choke on whatever it is that Ernie so clearly has difficulty swallowing. Don’t get me wrong, Ernie has given us South Africans a lot of joy throughout his career. But it is this kind of ability to do absolutely nothing while Tiger strings together one unbelievable run after another that makes me want to take up full time drinking any time I see our man Ernie with a one or two stroke lead. I hope that you weren’t watching it live Dad. If you were I hope that it wasn’t in a public place.

I’ll leave you all with a picture of the South African Flag. This one flies on The Benjamin Franklin Parkway here in Philly. I walk past it everyday when Ella and I go on our outings. It makes me smile to think of all of you back home and all of the wonderful memories that we have. It’s also a nice reminder of the sunshine as we navigate another Philly winter, which hasn’t actually been that bad this year (yet). It’s 55 degrees outside today…tropical!!

I’ve just read your blog and you continue to leave me in awe of your amazing talents, love, humanity and sense of humour ( We spell it like that!) – fortunately I wssn’t watching Ernie being somewhere in Namaqualand wishing you were with me as I travelled that barren but majestic countryside. However, as much as we love the Big Easy we have to take our hats off to the Tiger – 61 in the final round is brilliant! Dare we say that the last guy to charge like that wasn’t Arnie or Jack but one G J Player?

Keep writing – just love it!

Tiger shot a 65, may as well have been a 61 though.

Did you get any good shots in the Karoo. I’d love to see some if you did.

Love,

Si
